My project with Frame Group: 2016 - Present

September 2016 - December 2017

New South Wales: Department of Justice

ICT Business Analyst

NSW: Department of Justice, department of the New South Wales Government, is responsible for the administration and development of a just and equitable legal system of courts, tribunals, laws and other mechanisms that further the principles of justice in New South Wales.

Key Project Objectives:

  • Analyze & Fix & Validate the Active Directory
    • Objects and attributes
    • FIM and Azure AD Connect
  • Validate the mail routing and change the DNS records
    • Validation of the mail routing Domino/Exchange On-Premise/Office365
    • DNS Change (MX, SPF, CNAME)
  • Analyze and update the SharePoint structure to apply the best practice
    • Creation of the
    • Redaction of the Support Level 3 articles
    • Demonstration of SharePoint possibilities
  • Working, in collaboration with different teams, on the functional process
    • Creation / Changing / Decommissioning of Office 365 objects
    • Best practice in the Office 365 administration
    • Security with EOP (Exchange Online Protection)

The project team consisted of 6 members: a project directory, a project architect and four engineers/architects.

I entered this project after a fast migration, therefore I had to understand, to fix, to solidify and validate the production. After that I had worked on the functional administration level in order to leave the project with a client at 100% operational!

The second part was to “implement” the Office 365 solutions, change management, solution adoption, presentation of the different possibilities provide by Office 365: SharePoint, Teams, Yammer, Skype, Planner, etc…

Challenges:

  • The project architect was stacked on the others department migrations, task was to lead my side and report the different step of the validation.
  • PowerShell script edition to audition, validation of the existing and for bulk creation.
  • Work in a Government environment.
  • Bridge the communication between different political entities, technically and functionally.
  • Change management.

Technical environment:

  • Office 365, Active Directory & AADSync/Azure AD Connect
  • Microsoft Office 2010
  • IBM Domino 8.5 & Lotus Notes
  • Microsoft SharePoint, Skype for Business, Teams, Power Bi, Yammer, Planner, etc…
  • PowerShell

My project with Randstad Techologies: 2016 - 2016

Ruralco

Ruralco is an Australian diversified agricultural company, which provides real estate, insurance, auctioneer services, agricultural equipment and other services to the Australian rural community. It has expanded via a series of mergers into a billion-dollar company.

Key Project Objectives:

  • Active Directory’s Objects audit (Users, Contacts, Security Groups, etc.).
  • Migrate ~1.500 users from Lotus Notes to the Microsoft Office 365.
  • MigrationWiz and PowerShell were key migration tools.
  • Integration of HR’s software and Active Directory via PowerShell scripting.
  • Train the level 2 & 3 support / BAU team.

The project team consisted of 3 members: a project manager, a project architect, and a global architect. Christophe entered this project after a first failed attempt, therefore, he had to reverse engineer to solidify and validate the migration process.

Challenges:

  • Clean up the obsolete users and computer accounts from Active Directory and validate all the prerequisites to a clean sync with Azure AD.
  • After a summary audit, he had identified two warning points.
  • With the global architect we scope the impact and fix it (Object fields not compliant, users or fields’ information duplicated).
  • Keep the Active Directory up-to-date with the Domino directory.
  • Christophe edited a PowerShell script to get the Domino information, to make the delta with Active Directory and to apply the modification (all modifications were logged and sent to the administration team).
  • Keep the users’ delegations from Domino.
  • Two points are important for this step, the change management, and the technical/cost possibility. Because Lotus Notes and Exchange don’t offer the same functionality.

Technical environment:

  • Office 365, Active Directory & AADSync, PowerShell
  • IBM Domino 8.5 & Lotus Notes
  • MigrationWiz

Being located in many countries, I had to build a sustainable infrastructure, responding to expectation and proper European and American legislation.
Prepare the migration plan and run it, without side effects for the users during their working time, was my second challenge.
